Hathi Gaon, also known as Elephant Village, is 4 km away from Amber Fort. The area covered by Hathi Gaon in Jaipur is 30.5 hectares. The Rajasthan Forest Department, Jaipur Development Authority, and Rajasthan Tourism collaborated to build this. About 100 elephants are kept in the village by the mahouts and their families. The elephant shelters known as “Thaans,” or Haathi Thaans, have reportedly been built in accordance with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.
